Have you ever wondered about who is responsible what happens\nat our local Neighbourhood Houses? Volunteer community members play an\nimportant role as members of the Board or Committee of Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These are people with an interest or passion for their\ncentre and a desire to contribute to their running. They are also community\nmembers who want to share their positive experiences with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Committee of Management or Board members set the direction\nof the organisation, then work closely with the centre staff to put their plans\ninto action. Participation can be rewarding and enjoyable \u2013 it also provides\ngood experience for other parts of life, such as work or other community\nservice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current Norlane Community Centre board comprises Adam\nFratantaro as the new Chair, Sandra Anderson (Secretary), Krystine Canny-Smith\n(Treasurer), Monique Hurley, Naomi Furlong, Stefan Manche and Bruce Warner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Norlane co-coordinator Esther Konings-Oakes said there is\nroom for more general members to come on board. \u201cWe are also looking for an\nexperienced bookkeeper or accountant to take over from Krystine,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At Cloverdale Community Centre the committee of management\nhas undergone quite a change in recent years. \nKellie Spark is in her first year as Chair and is supported by Steve\nTaylor (Deputy Chair), Mary Budd (Secretary), Peter Jewell (Treasurer), Dianne\nJohnston, Samuel Johnson, Matthew Pavelis and Helen Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
