Different themes are set for each edition and articles are prepared based, where possible, on the theme of the edition.

- The Editorial Committee aims to ensure that Northerly Aspects advertises and promotes ethical products and services that potentially benefit the Northern Suburbs and greater Geelong.
- The Editorial Committee retains the right to refuse articles that it considers may offend community standards. For example, opinions and views of an extreme political or racial nature will not be acceptable. Northerly Aspects does not advertise gambling venues, alcohol and cigarettes, personal services or adult products.
- Northerly Aspects does not publicise party-political information. Individuals in public office or people seeking political office are invited to advertise their contact details and non-partisan information.
